So, another birthday has come and gone. I hit double threes on Monday. Yeah, that's right. 33. Wow, where does the time go.

I remember my 23rd birthday. I went out with some friends from work the night before, right after my Tuesday night class. Drank way too much and crashed at a friend's place, mainly because it was on the way home, and I simply couldn't face continuing the walk in the bitter cold. I woke up the next morning and hightailed it back home to meet my parents for lunch. I was going to school in the snow belt, and it has always had a tendency to snow on my birthday. Seeing as my birthday is in the middle of January, I guess that's not too much of a surprise.

The rest of the day was fairly low key. A little bit of cake with my roommates and a movie with Michelle. Exactly what movie we saw escapes me, as things tend to do when you put a decade between yourself and the event you're trying to remember. I do remember that two years before, when Michelle and I first started seeing each other, we went to see Kindergarten Cop on my birthday. Some things you remember no matter what.

This birthday was spent in the company of my good friends Uni and Pamela. We just hung out, had a few beers, shot some pool tossed some darts and just enjoyed each others company. It was a great day. Although it seems like I didn't really do much, it was probably one of the best birthdays I have had in years. That is not to belittle the efforts of those who have helped me celebrate my birthday in years past (because truth be told, my 30th Birthday surprise party was pretty damned spectacular, and I will never forget it). It's just that when you have a couple of people who don't care what you do, just that they get to spend time with you on your special day, that's pretty amazing.

Times like that make me feel like a million bucks. At 33, I like feeling like a million bucks!
